Framed Felt House Portrait

There’s something extra special about a handmade portrait of a place you love. 🥹

In this workshop, you’ll turn your own home, a childhood home, a family member’s house, or another meaningful place into a charming felt portrait! Using a photo as your reference, you’ll break the building down into simple shapes, cut each piece from colorful felt, and layer everything together to create your own little 9x12 work of art. For an extra special personal touch, we will also use our Sizzix machines to cut out letters and numbers so you can add your family name, the year, the city or state, or whatever else might be meaningful to you! 

And the best part? It doesn’t have to be perfect. 

Felt has this wonderful way of making the imperfections part of the charm. A slightly wonky window, an uneven roofline, or a tree that isn’t quite the right shape just makes your finished portrait feel more handmade, personal, and full of character.

Frame it for your own walls or turn it into an incredibly thoughtful holiday gift for someone you love. (Brittany is literally making hers for her mother-in-law for Christmas, so yes, we are absolutely counting this as holiday gift prep. 😂)

This is a slow, satisfying evening of looking at a place that means something to you and figuring out how to capture what makes it feel like home. 

No precision required. In fact, we think a little imperfection makes it better.

What You’ll Learn
🫂We’ll help you use an image of your house and simplify it into basic shapes that can be recreated in felt.
✂️You’ll learn how to build your portrait in layers, cut and arrange architectural details, add landscaping and little details that give your house its personality, and glue everything together into a finished composition.
🥰No drawing skills or previous felt experience required! You’re not trying to create an architectural rendering. You’re creating a charming little handmade interpretation of a place you love.

What to Bring
Have a clear, straight-on photo of the house or building you want to recreate on your phone. Having a few additional photos can be helpful if there are details you really want to include!

By the end of class, you’ll have a framed, handmade portrait that might not capture every brick or perfectly straight window, but will capture what makes that place feel like home. 🏡✂️❤️

Workshop Age Guidance:
Our workshops are designed to be a welcoming and inclusive creative space for all. Please note that workshops are intended for participants ages 14 and up, with instruction, pacing, and materials geared toward teens and adults rather than young children.

Workshops that are appropriate for younger participants will be clearly labeled as family-friendly or “Grown-Up & Me” activities. Thank you for your understanding!

Cancellation Policy:
For workshops booked on or after August 16, 2026, the following cancellation policy applies: If you’re unable to attend a workshop, you may cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the scheduled workshop time to receive a 50% refund of your workshop payment. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop start time are not eligible for a refund. Please note that materials or kits from the class cannot be provided to participants who are unable to attend.
