As part of our Fantasy Fall theme, we are doing a special crochet stitch of the month that you can adapt for any legendary, beastly, or mystical purposes–the dragon scales stitch!
The workshop will be offered twice this month due to high demand and, knowing how cool it is, the first one will be part of our event lineup on International Crochet Day. Everyone who attends the workshop that day will receive a limited-edition commemorative pin. But if you can’t make it for the first workshop, the second one will be just as epic.
The workshop will be focused on learning the stitch technique, but the guide includes a full pattern with instructions on how to increase and decrease the stitch to make your own dragon scale shawl!
Fair warning–every quest requires some difficult decisions. Do you want to cozy up for fall with a book hoard and golden coffee? Then you might make a medium shawl to cover your shoulders with fiery warmth. But maybe you want a hair bandana that says “don’t mess with me, I am fierce and crafty!” Or, for the ultimate garment, you could create a large wrap to fit your waist and fully sheath yourself in the soft but protective scales. The possibilities are endless and the stitch is pure magic.
But wait–there is one more crucial element to this adventure: the yarn! As part of the workshop each person gets a skein of dazzling Universal Yarn Colorburst, with options to purchase more skeins. We will be placing a special order for this yarn so it will be a workshop exclusive and not stocked in store.
Your registration includes:
- Printed stitch guide and shawl pattern
- 1 skein of Universal Yarn Colorburst in shade of your choosing
- Hands-on instruction and support

Our workshops are designed to be a welcoming and inclusive creative space for all. Please note that workshops are intended for participants ages 14 and up, with instruction, pacing, and materials geared toward teens and adults rather than young children.
Workshops that are appropriate for younger participants will be clearly labeled as family-friendly or “Grown-Up & Me” activities. Thank you for your understanding!
Cancellation Policy:
For workshops booked on or after August 16, 2026, the following cancellation policy applies: If you’re unable to attend a workshop, you may cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the scheduled workshop time to receive a 50% refund of your workshop payment. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop start time are not eligible for a refund. Please note that materials or kits from the class cannot be provided to participants who are unable to attend.
