Using sparkly embroidery floss and mindful embellishment, you'll transform a tarot card into a one-of-a-kind stitched artwork inspired by the symbolism and energy of the card you draw. Tarot has long been used as a tool for reflection, insight, and personal growth, making it the perfect medium for exploring your intuition and creative spirit.
Each participant will intuitively draw a tarot card at the start of class, then learn how to safely perforate the card, embroider directly onto it, and finish the piece with a clean, stitched backing that feels complete and intentional.
Take home a fully embellished embroidered tarot card, new mixed-media embroidery skills, and a meaningful keepsake infused with your own creative energy.

Before you begin stitching, take a few moments to reflect on the card you've drawn. Consider:

✨ Intuitive Card Selection: Begin by drawing a tarot card and reflecting briefly on its symbolism and themes as inspiration for your stitching choices.
🪡 Perforating Paper Safely: Learn how to use a sharp needle to carefully perforate a tarot card without tearing it, creating a clean guide for embroidery.
📄 Stitching on Paper: Practice embroidering directly onto cardstock using sparkly embroidery floss, focusing on accent stitches that enhance the imagery rather than overwhelm it.
👀 Embellishment & Texture: Explore stitch placement, shimmer thread handling, and subtle design choices to add depth, emphasis, and magic to your card.
🛌 Finishing With a Blanket Stitch: Learn how to attach a second tarot card to the back using a tidy blanket stitch, concealing the reverse side of your embroidery for a clean, professional finish.
All supplies are provided in this workshop including three skeins of sparkly thread. Don't forget, Makeshift Crafts is BYOB!

Workshops that are appropriate for younger participants will be clearly labeled as family-friendly or “Grown-Up & Me” activities. Thank you for your understanding!
