There's a place off Ocean Avenue where we used to stitch... 🌊🖤🪡
This month's Emo Embroidery is inspired by one of the most iconic songs of the 2000s: Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue.
For this workshop, Brittany hand-drew an original embroidery design featuring a towering ocean wave rolling beneath a glowing sunset, paired with the unforgettable lyric:
"Let your waves crash down on me and take me away."
There's something about this song that perfectly captures late summer… the feeling of warm evenings that don't last forever, friendships that shaped you, and the bittersweet nostalgia of looking back while still hoping for what's ahead. This design brings all of that emotion together in one peaceful, dramatic seascape.
As always, we'll spend the evening embroidering, listening to emo classics, singing far louder than necessary, and collectively pretending it's still 2003.
This workshop is beginner-friendly and includes:
🪡 pre-printed fabric featuring Brittany's original design
🧵 embroidery floss to match the ocean blues and sunshine yellow skies
✨ all stitching materials needed during class
Your finished piece is perfect for:
🖤 emo gallery walls and music corners
📚 bookshelves filled with records, CDs, and favorite novels
✨ cozy reading nooks and creative spaces
🌙 reminding yourself that summer nights used to feel a little magical
The Vibe:

🌊 A room full of people reminiscing about the soundtrack of their teenage years
🪡 Cozy stitching, dramatic lyrics, and just the right amount of nostalgia
Come dressed in your finest emo attire. Band tees, black eyeliner, flannels in summer, all of it encouraged.

Our workshops are designed to be a welcoming and inclusive creative space for all. Please note that workshops are intended for participants ages 14 and up, with instruction, pacing, and materials geared toward teens and adults rather than young children.
