Once upon a time there were two innocent college girls who decided the best way to spend their Halloween weekend was eating as many specialty shaped sugar cookies as possible. No alcohol, no drugs, just sweet sweet yellow dye #5. The tummy ache was legendary. And some say their gastrointestinal greed awakened a terrible curse: permanent gluten intolerance. 🪦
The curse may be unbreakable, but the cookies will live on in a new form: punch needle coasters. These are allergen friendly (because they should not actually be eaten) and perfect for capturing condensation off potion goblets and bubbly concoctions.
During the workshop we will demonstrate how to use punch needle techniques on linen fabric vs. monks cloth to create a simple Halloween design. Each person will receive six skeins of DMC wool tapestry thread, enough for three full coasters, plus all three patterns for tracing and making more at home. We will also cover finishing techniques to back the coasters with felt and basic embroidery stitches.
Come honor the sacrifice of those foolish girls, one of whom suffered the curse but lived to create this craft. 🎃🐈⬛👻
Important note: This is a beginner+ workshop, so you should have at least a basic understanding of punch needle stitching before attending. We have a separate Punch Needle for Beginners workshop and recommend taking that first if you have never tried it before.
