The Wheel turns once again. ⚙️

Join us at Makeshift as we gather around the table to celebrate Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the transition into the darker half of the year.

Traditionally celebrated from October 31 into November 1, Samhain sits at a threshold; a moment between seasons, between endings and beginnings, and, in folklore and later traditions, a time when the boundary between the living and the dead was believed to grow thin.

It's a holiday rooted in transition, remembrance, honoring those who came before us, and preparing for winter.

And while modern Halloween has some historical connections to traditions that developed around this time of year, Samhain gives us an opportunity to look beyond the costumes and candy and explore something a little quieter. 

What are we ready to leave behind?
What do we want to carry forward?
And who or what helped us become the people we are today?

Like our Litha and Mabon celebrations, this special Wheel of the Year gathering will combine learning, reflection, creativity, and community.

We'll begin by learning about the history, folklore, symbolism, and traditions associated with Samhain and its place on the Wheel of the Year. Then we'll spend some time reflecting on the season we're leaving behind and the one we're entering.

We'll consider the things we're ready to release, the lessons we want to carry with us, and the people, places, traditions, and memories that deserve a little extra space in our hearts as the year grows darker.

And, of course, we're going to make another Altar Talisman.

Samhain can sound dark and in some ways, it is.

But darkness doesn't have to mean scary. 🖤

It can mean acknowledging that something has ended instead of desperately trying to hold onto it. 🖤

It can mean gathering around a table, making something with your hands, telling stories, thinking about the people who came before you, and deciding what deserves to come with you into the next season. 🫂

We'll make something. We'll learn something. We'll remember something. And then we'll let the Wheel keep on turning. 🌙🕯️🍂

For workshops booked on or after August 16, 2026, the following cancellation policy applies: If you’re unable to attend a workshop, you may cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the scheduled workshop time to receive a 50% refund of your workshop payment. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop start time are not eligible for a refund. Please note that materials or kits from the class cannot be provided to participants who are unable to attend.
