Mabon is the festival marking the autumnal equinox, when day and night are of equal length, symbolizing balance in nature and life. It is also known as the time of second harvest, where the last of autumn’s bounty is gathered and stored in preparation for the colder months ahead.
This is the second workshop in our Wheel of the Year (WOTY) Felt Altar Talisman series, where we will celebrate the traditions of seasonal festivals by creating a felt tarot-inspired altar card for each month. We encourage you to attend throughout the year to build a beautiful handmade collection that honors the changing seasons one celebration at a time.
Our card for this month is “The Acorn”, which represents the seeds we plant with hope for long-term growth and change. You will create a one-of-a-kind talisman using our felt cutting machines, steel die cutters, and a collection of felt shapes. The colors, embellishments, and design are all up to you!
During our crafting session, we will be joined by our house witch, Cosmic Spider, who will guide us through the history, symbolism, and traditions of Mabon before leading a special themed tarot reading focused on the holiday.
Whether you celebrate the Wheel of the Year, or simply enjoy marking the changing seasons with meaningful creativity, this evening offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and welcome the gifts of the autumn season.
Feel free to bring your own tarot deck if you'd like to follow along during the reading.
